Ah. Ipak se zakopavaju sve dublje u rupu srama. Nije da sam zaista mislio da ce napraviti nesto pametno.

No dobro. Eto mogucnosti za sve D&D fanove da sada ponovo kupe sve knjige koje vec imaju, ovaj put sa malo drugacijim tekstovima spell*ova i feat-ova. Mozda dobiju i +1 vs. Enemies uz novi PHB.

Eh, naivci. Ovo su odlicne vesti. Sada konacno supplementi ce kostati onoliko koliko i vrede.

Da li ima nekoga ovde ko u samoubilackom ocajanju, do srzi razocaran izdavackom politikom WOTC-a, zeli da proda svoje D&D knjige budzasto?

Evo jednog od komentara ocevidaca sa prezentacije:
The reaction in the ballroom to the presentation ranged from tepid to downright hostile. Now, a lot of that is because the news was presented with all the excitement of a White House press conference (if the press secretary were flanked by a giant forest troll and and an oddly aquatic beholder), but the rest was because we were all holding our collective breath. Everyone in the room seemed to really want to be pleasantly surprised. Pretty much every new feature was greeted with silence or a smattering of polite applause.

I'm sure this is all covered elsewhere, but I haven't seen them here, so basic things I remember, with commentary:

* Levels are going to go up to 30 and, as they put it, they plan for the "sweet spot" to be levels 1-30. My thoughts: Am I going to be leveling my characters all the damn time? I don't like leveling my characters. I like roleplaying (a word, by the way, which wasn't mentioned at all in the presentation)
* Every character class will have a defined, easy-to-figure out role within a party. My thoughts: Will I still be able to make a unique character that doesn't fit the iconic stereotypes?
* Resource management is supposed to be streamlined in a way that makes it unnecessary to rest just because the wizard ran out of spells or the cleric ran out of healing. Thoughts: Makes sense.
* Ebooks with every product. This was the only announcement to get major applause.
* Lots of online, interactive tools. Dungeon mapper, character creator, voice chat, etc for remote play. My thoughts: There so isn't going to be a Mac version. I actually cornered one of the 4e designers afterwards to ask if there would be a Mac version and it looks like it will only run in emulation mode. This makes me want to cry.

All in all, even after arguing vehemently with folks in my room last night, that Wizards needs to be updating and releasing a new edition and that it won't be the end of the world no really, I'm seriously underwhelmed. In fact, I'm rather dreading the idea of having to convert all my characters and getting a book with a coaster of a CD that won't work in my computer.

Actually, come to think about it... they didn't mention conversion. I believe the advice was, "Continue playing your 3.5 campaigns and start thinking about your 4th edition campaigns." Right, I'll get right on that.

Ups, moja greska, mislio sam na stare 3.X supplemente koji, eto, po nekom mom vidjenju ne opravdavaju cenu prikacenu na njih. 8)

Last night, WotC announced 4th Edition at a special media dinner. The
big announcement to the public takes place today at GenCon at 6.30pm.

Unfortunately, I missed the dinner - I was stuck in the Border
Protection line at Dulles Airport, Washington DC at the time, and
didn't arrive in Indy until nearly 2am, seven hours behind schedule.
However, WotC were kind enough to meet with me this morning to fill
me in on what I missed and answer a few questions. In addition, they
provided me with a "press pack" which includes various fact sheets
and images, some of which I've posted below.

A lot of the information has already made it onto the net, and much
is presented above.

The very first thing they said to me was that the core rulebooks will
span levels 1-30. Not only that, but those levels are supposed to
extend the "sweet spot" of D&D, which WotC guesstimated at currently
being levels 4-14ish. They have also tried to ensure that every class
gets something new and exciting at every level. They did not list the
core classes (although indicated that psionics will be supplementary,
and not core), and they pointed to the front cover for the 4e PHB
where is referred to (if I recall correctly), where it says "Arcane,
divine and martial characters". I asked about the Rogue, and was told
that the Rogue is a "martial character".

They spoke also of character "roles", and about how different classes
would have different roles more explicitly predefined than at
present. Continuing the concept of every class receiving cool new
stuff at each level I asked if this meant that they were spreading
the magic around more than at present; their response was "yes, to an
extent", but that, for example, the Fighter would have maneuvers and
so forth.

The release schedule is as follows: in April 2008, a quick-start
adventure called "Adventure H1: Keep on the Shadowfell" will be
released. This will include pregenerated characters. May 2008 sees
the 4th Edition Player's Handbook and Character Record Sheet, June
2008 sees the Monster Manual, and July 2008 brings us the Dungeon
Master's Guide and DM's Screen.

On magic, they touched briefly on the PHB containing various "power
sources", expanding the concept of arcane and divine sources.

The look of 4th Edition, they said, would be much less"textbook" and
much more "magazine"; they felt this would be friendlier, clearer and
more accessible. Expect to see a higher reliance on images and
diagrams.

You've already heard about dndinsider.com, which is due to go live
soon. This i their digital content. I saw examples of the Dragon and
Dungeon pages (it looked a lot like the magazines). The intention is
to provide subscriber services alongside the current free content,
although some free content will move over.

The whole digitial thing is heavily linked in to the physical product
line. They empasized that they were marrying to two together. D&D
books will have a code in them which, when entered into the online
service, will provide digital access to that content. The digital
game table was a large part of the conversation, with screenshots on
how you generat a character online using the physical books you own,
customize its appearance, and then generate a "virtual miniature" for
use in the online game experience. The online game is tool, not a
game in itself - a mapping system with battlemaps, generators and so
forth, all run by a DM. I saw a few screenshots, showing overhead and
isometric views, and virtual miniatures including a PC and a green
dragon.

Regarding the OGL and the d20 System - both will continue to be
actively supported. There WILL be a 4th Edition SRD; some publishers
will get access to it early, just like with the 3 rollout.

The public announcement is tonight at 6.30pm (just over an hour from
now), with videos, screens and so forth

Ah. Da, to ima smisla.


Inace, da budem iskren, ima ovde par stvari koje mi izgledaju zanimljivo i pametno. Nisam ocekivao da ce D&D ikada, ali bukvalno IKADA promeniti osnovnu 4-class podelu (Rogue, Warrior, Priest, Mage) i drago mi je sto vidim pomak u tome. Sa druge strane, ja u ospte ne kapiram sto se nisu fokusirali na figurice. Prodaju se manijakalno, svako ko igra D&D koristi figurice, cak iz svega sto ovde vidim moze se jasno videti da prave jos veci fokus na streamlining sistema kao nekakav 'tactical simulation'. To je super, to je ono sto je D&D bio od pocetka i treba biti iskren prema takvim stvarima. Kada bi D&D do kraja prigrlio svoj klise, sigurno bi bila u pitanju cetri puta bolja igra. Al' dobro, izgleda da je ljudima jos uvek previse stalo do samozavaravanja da je po sredi role-playing kada ubijas monstere i uzimas njihov swag.

Najbolja stvar u vezi 4e je sto iz toga mogu izaci lepe kompjuterske igre. Nije da cu ih igrati, naravno.
EDIT: A da, takodje se nadamo umanjenom RPG market udelu. To se desilo sa 3.5, nadamo se da ce kod 4.0 biti jos veci pad. Onda mozemo da se nadamo zdravijoj industriji.

za mene je DnD uvek bio roleplay i nikad mi se nije svidjao koncept figurica... shtavishe, kad god igram dnd (frp) sve shto imam su character sheet, olovka i kocke, i kada je neka pegla pitam DMa shta vidim i kako sve izgleda oko mene...

nikad nisam puno voleo te fore sa figuricama i gridovima, jer se redovno nadje neko "pametan" da postavi pitanje "a kako to ja njega ne vidim/mogu da pogodim kad imam put do njega" nashta DM chesto obrne ochi i pokushava da objasni, mada se to na kraju svede na "ako je tu neka prepreka, trebao si da nam kazhesh" - "sam si kriv shto nisi pitao" debatu...

kada ti je neko spremio celu avanturu i (obichno) ceo setting oko tebe, ja smatram da je samo fer i poshteno prema njemu da ti kazhe shta mozhesh da radish u borbi...

kolko ja vidim, sa ovom 4ed jedino shto tje se promeniti jeste to shto tjemo svi opet morati da downloadujemo 10gb knjiga :D
chak ni ne smem da pomislim shta sve mozhe monk 30og levela... i gde su tu onda epic leveli? nemoj mi samo retji da tje epic produzhiti do 50-60og levela jer mislim da bi to onda zaista bilo preterano :D

Paz'te sad:

1. Rase sad ne daju bonus samo na pocetku igre, vec se rasne osobine i druge stvarcice dobijaju kako karakter napreduje po nivoima. Iz cega sledi da ce se izbaciti i LA i sl. sto ce umnogome olaksati pravljenje nestandardnih rasa i sl.

2. PHB podrzava nivoe 1-30 gde su nivoi 21-30 i dalje "epic". Jedino sto se zna jeste da ce epic biti u osnovnim pravilima, a da li ce imati neke zasebne mehanike, ostaje da se vidi. Takodje, izgleda da ce svaka klasa na svakom nivou dobijati neku osobinu/bonus.

3. Cini se da sve dobre stvari koje volim kod D&D-a (tj. spell slotovi i preparacija magija) ostaju. Neka crknu mrzitelji.

4. Naleteo sam na neki clanak gde jedan od dizajnera prica o ostrim metalnim stvarcicama u igri. Naime, gledaju da svaki tip ima nesto posebno, da se specijalizuje za nesto. Npr. mac daje igracu najveci izbor manevara, koplje je specijalizovano za stavec, valjda preskakanje AC-a, itd.

5. A sad ovo: svaka knjiga ima kod koji ukucate na online D&D portalu, sto vam onda omogucava da koristite materijal iz te knjige u propratnim programima. Sto mu dodje da ce ljudi koji igraju online verovatno morati da stalno investiraju i kupuju nove knjige kako bi ih uopste D&D elitisti koji se takmice u tome ko je vise knjiga kupio prihvatili u ekipe.

6. Mnogo, mnogo navlace ljude na online play. Cisto kao ilustraciju: kad kupite knjigu, aktivacijom tog koda imate opciju da uz neku minimalnu doplatu (sto su rekli, cena kafe) dobijete i nekakav bonus sadrzaj za tu knjigu. Sad, verujem da bi to velika vecina ljudi uradila, cisto da im se nadje. I onda si na tom portalu, imas raznorazne generatore, baze podataka, gluposti, mozes pravis nekakvu sliku svoga lika kojom onda igras on online tabli sa ostalim ljudima i sl.

E sad, ne verujem bas da bi mene pogodilo to online igranje, ali brate... Ovaj i ovako zamisljen D&D se mnogo udaljava od one ideje zabave kakvu ja imam. A ne sumnjam da ce veci deo ostatka RPG industrije vise/manje krenuti istim putem, kao i nebrojeno puta do sad.

Menja se sistem magija. Casteri ce imati vise tipova magija od kojih ce neke moci da se koriste jednom po danu (slicno trenutnom sistemu, "fire and forget"), neke jednom po encounteru (slicno manevrima iz Book of Nine Swords ili Iron Heroes), a neke at will (slicno warlock-u i Reserve feat-ovima).

I za sada je potvrdjeno da ce biti najmanje 25 nivoa magija (umesto do sadasnjih 0-9+Epic). Licno mi se svidja ovaj veci nivo granularnosti, a i time se izbegava konfuzija tipa "mag nivoa X moze da baca magije nivoa X/2-1"

sa 25 levela magija.... dude, pa dovoljno ti da spremash po dve svakog levela, to ti je 50... u svakom sluchaju ono na shta se to meni prevodi je sledetje - "bacamo postojetje spellove u djubre ili ih konvertujemo tako da budu svoj n-tog levela" ...

mada, to at will mi se svidja, malo je bezveze da wizard 17og lvla ima 6 cantripa na raspolaganju...

off-topic: kada sam vetj kod cantripa, jedan od najboljih itema koje sam ikada dobio je bio amulet of infinite cantrips; amulet koji ti daje da spremish kolko otjesh cantripa dnevno... kako su oni dobri za roleplay, to je strashno :D

Ma bice sve ok na kraju. Nesto sumnjam da su 3 i kusur godine razvijali i testirali sistem koji ne radi.

mislim da promena sistem magija nije dobra - sam sistem nije dobar od pocetka, a i to sto je rogue martial karakter - on martial ko moja baba. To meni mirise da je rogue postaja previse mocan zbog onih skill poena koje ostali nisu imali, pa je na velikim nivoima postajao dzek ov ol trejds.

A i zasto bi neko menjao ovaj sistem dnd -ija - sta ovom fali (retoricko pitanje)?
I ovaj sadasnji i sledeci ce biti ubogi do maksimuma... i totalni hek end sles. Pormena sistema bi znacila npr. da se vise ne dobija exp za monster slejing sranja, a ne to sto sada ima tri grupe zanimanja.

To su pregenerisani likovi za prezentacioni test sesn 4e.

Healing Surge je verovatno koliko se hp-a leci prilikom healovanja. Second Wind nemam pojma.

Meni je jos vise meh...

mislim da je taj vind nesto kao special attack ili slicno, oise sitnim slovima da moze da se koristi jedan po enkaunteru. Izgleda slozenije nego treca edicija, ali vrh su mi pasivni i aktivni skillovi, kao GM ce da gleda jedan kad nesto ne trazis a drugi kad nesto trazis, ili kad trazis pogresnu stvar... idiotluk :roll:

Mislim da ovo necu igrati definitivno...

na predzadnjoj slici, pod tačkom 5 su opisani pojmovi healing surge/second wind. elem, second wind je "per encounter" standardna akcija, koja omogućava da se potroši jedan healing surge/day i da se zaleči x hp-a gde je x vrednost samog healing surge-a. za vreme second wind akcije, PC ima +2 na AC. cleric poseduje magije koje mogu da izleče nekog od saigrača u vrednosti healing surge-a. mislim da je to zamena za cure light/medium/... magije.

ko je voleo (a)d&d , verovatno će voleti i 4ed. kome je smetao prelaz na 3/3.5ed ni u novoj ediciji neće naći sebe. sreća pa postoji pregršt drugih sistema...

ajde da se složimo da verovatno ima boljih sistema. al ova kvalifikacija da je sistem idiotski bez ijednog primera ili nekog razloga...ajd razradi malo temu, pa onda možemo da pričamo. :)

meni je naprimer prelaz sa ad&d na 3ed bio jeziv, posle sam promenio mišljenje. što se 4ed tiče, ono što sam video mi se uglavnom sviđa. jeste da su pokrali brdo stvari iz wow-a, i da ceo sistem više liči na d&d miniatures nego na rpg sistem, ali čini mi se da če mehanika borbe biti zanimljiva, a za ostalo ću da se snađem :)
napišite šta vam se sviđa (ili ne), čisto da malo diskutujemo. bez flame-a molio bih.

Vidis kada hocu da igram igru sa figuricama igracu neku dobru igru sa figuricama.

Pa novi dnd toliko vuce na miniature game da izgleda i ne mozes da role play-jes. MIslim, mozes.. isto koliko i u prosecnoj partiji warmachine-a ili nekromunde npr.
Mada, sto beta kaze, tada bih radije i igrao necromundu (ili nesto drugo)...

Kada ti mehanika aktivno ne dozvoljava roleplay, i ogranicava ga stotinama sitnih pravila u stilu Gulana, onda ne mozes roleplay-ovati. A ovde je to slucaj. Necu mnogo da komentarissem 4. ediciju, barem ne dok ne vidim pravila - ali po ovome st vidim - sistem uopste ne obecava. Razne su rasprave postojale povodom DnD-a na ovom forumu, i sta god da napisem, nekako bih ponovio sta je ranije vec bilo receno. Ono sto je cinjenica - napustili su koncept RPG-a i ustremili se na wargame (a kao neko ko je se dosta igrao figuricama, mogu da kazem, ne bas sjajan wargame). No, ostaje nam da sacekamo objavljivanje, da vidimo sta ce da nova edicija doneti - nekome ce se sigurno dopasti, a neki ce nastiviti da se igraju ozbiljnijih sistema.

Kako ja na to gledam - mnoge od stvari koje su izbacili/promenili su one sto su za mene davale D&D-u smek:

Memorizovanje cini koje si mogao da koristis 1. po danu.

Pocinjes kao manje-vise obican covek, uspinjes se do heroja epskih razmera.

Paladin je morao biti LG

Novo baziranje igre na per-encounter balansu umesto encounters-per day uveliko menja osecaj igre

itd itd.

Sa druge strane, stvari koje ubacuju su mi isto tako bleh: neki tamo Ljudi-Zmajevi i Tajflinzi. Meni je lepa stvar D&D-a bila ideja "mozes da igras coveka, vilenjaka, patuljka, gnoma ili polutana" - ono, kad to kazes nekome ko ne zna za D&D a minimalno je upoznat sa fantazijom da te odmah razume. Sad imas Ljude-Zmajeve i Tajflinge. Mislim, koj su ***** Tajflinzi?

A ubacivanje Tajflinga i Vorloka, plus napustanje alajnmenta mi sve smrdi kao da podilaze mentalitetu "kul je biti mracni lik". A to mi se bas ne svidja.

Sve u svemu, odnos prema 4e je najbolje opisati ovako:

Gledam rumore, i vidim da likovi na prvom nivou dobijaju 2xMax hit poena. I to je ok, ono, nece poguinuti od promaje i sl. Onda, vidim da na svakom nivou dobijaju fiksno hp-a, u zavisnosti od klase. I to ima smisla, nece te ujebati kecevi ta tim rolovima i sl. Al' brate, ne baca se za HP, koji bedak...

Meni su D&D-ovski alignmenti oduvek bili super. Nije valjda da ih vise nema?!
