Rick few words of advice:

Extoller is still great. Use him with Cannoneer. Don`t use command with swordmen. Those two points can be better used ie. extoller. I don`t think that Guardian is that good in regular lists anymore. Bronzback can be absolute teror against infantry + it destroys heavy stuff easily one of the best beasts around. master tromentor is horror against non Cryx infantry. Venetors are not that bad at all. You need more balanced lists. Rhydem is still very good. Gladiator is probably the best 8 points model in the game.

Bojan, I appreciate the advice and if there is anyone that can give good theorymachine it is you. But I've played quite a few games on vassal and at the club and sticking an extoller into a list is like trying to stop a tsunami with a tennis racket. The majority of the faction doesn't work. This is not about the game the other night - that was poor play and if we played the same lists again the results would have been much closer. I forgot that the gladiator has follow up so I should have killed the Avatar and with side step I should have saved Molik Karn from being killed in round 3. My gloom is not about that match but the faction as a whole. Yes - the extoller/gladiator/Rhadiem combo is golden. It also takes some setting up and (as you put it) a helpful opponent. And it has only been around a week as the week before it was the extoller/BronzeBack/Rhadiem combo but the extoller didn't need a soul token then but it does now. The week before that the combo didn't exist. Next week Rush will probably end up on the deathjack.

Skorne Beasts are poor and only pMakeda gives them any kind of buff to hit - and so even boosted they struggle to hit troops and 50% of factions heavies. With the nerf to enrage the savage suddenly seems very weak and now the gladiator (a fecking elephant!!) is a back row support model that buffs SPD. It's like saying The Butcher gives units the ability to knit jumpers. The Gladiator maybe the best 8 pt beast in the game but he is absolutely the only 8 pt support model in the game, and therefore utterly pointless. Skorne was all about infantry and then suddenly people said - but our magic/ranged/beast models are crap and PP ok, lets make your magic from crap to below average, keep your ranged models crap and perform the most stupid design reshuffle on your beasts which shows we are completely without a clue how to fix this mess. Oh and tone down your infantry buffs. The result is we have decent lists with Xersis and the Makeda's for non-competitive games and sweet **** all else. The extoller is a pale refection of what it used to be and saying it is good is like kicking me in the boll**ks and then trying to make me feel better by telling me that I scuffed your shoe.

I don`t really know do I look at final version but extoller gives one model ayeless sight+magic weapon. That is in my opinion very usefull, especially with new gladiator animus that gives +2 range and pathfinder. So in Hordes environment without many magic weapons or stealth negation around you have reliable way to deal with likes of Vilmon, Stealth solos, Cloud effects, protectorate you can`t shoot me song and charging that model hiding behind the wood from 10+ inches is just great in my opinion and won me more than few games with Legion. We can play together few games but I really think that Skorne has many new options aviable(until next update of course :D ) and also more competetive casters than many factions it just doesn`t have powerhouse casters but I think that overall Hordes facons are weaker than WM factions.

I`ll try to make few Skorne list and put them here just make separate thread for that(MKII Making Skorne work The Strugle) :D

It is seriously not about putting lists together. It is about the lack of options. It is about how not only did the stuff in Metamorphosis get toned down but so did the stuff in Primal and Evolution. Skorne sat at the bottom of the pile vs Warmachine and low down vs Hordes for a long time. Zaal was a good solid caster & very dangerous with AGs, Makeda was solid but boring and Hexeris was fun except when playing Cryx. Morghoul with Paingivers had his moments and Xersis was our Borka. In Metamorphosis we got a top tier caster that not only had a mega feat but when coupled with the extoller was up with the best of them. This coupled with Rhadiem and Molik Karn shifted Skorne to competitive.
MK2 comes and we are back to pre-Meta. Now both incarnations of Makeda are solid but boring, Xersis is still like Borka but Borka Mk2 not MK1 and Mordikaar has, for 1 week, become half decent. These warlocks all struggle becuase so much support stuff has been hamstrung. The extoller is OK. For a soul token he can give 1 model eyeless sight and magic weapon. The AG's are now very mediocre. Rhadiem is still good but only that and the Krea is now purely defensive and nothing in melee. The mediocre warlocks are very mediocre because the support is so weak. There is no top tier caster and even eMorghoul is now very average because while he can still blind, he will struggle to catch the key models and then cannot send MK or Rhadiem in to finish the job.

So PP got rid of the easy buttons right?

Yes. They did - they also got rid of anything that could even vaguely stand up to warmachine. Not only that but the glaring issues (poor ranged attacks, poor magic and no way to buff beasts) haven't got better but worse. Skorne is a nothing faction that can put together a decent list or too to stand up against other faction's fun lists. As someone said on the forum - we are worse now than before Metamorphosis came out.

These are the list of changes I would like to see to Skorne warlocks/warbeasts and one or two solos;
I would also advocate the return of the +2 SPD to the paingivers. The purpose of this list is to make Skorne actually good at it's meta - ie melee. There is no improvement to ranged attacks, no improvement to magic attacks and the ridiculous SPD of Molik Karn with eMakeda has been toned down. What is a major difference is that all most warlocks have access to ways to boost Warbeast's and infantry MAT and have a synergy with warbeast's. With Spells and access to pain givers Skorne's primary beast-stick has access to +4 movement and in a lot of other cases other buffs too. This means that factions sometimes have to react to Skorne rather than the constant need of Skorne to react to the better factions all the time. I don't think these changes make skorne broken or OP and in fact the eMakeda tournament list is actually toned down to open up the game to several competitive warlocks and builds.

I'm going to put this on the PP forum as a list ditch attempt to save the faction. Would love some feedback first....
