OK,
I'm back in BG! Esoterrorists is a cute little system and it kinda makes me smile as the setting is so similar to a World of Darkness campaign that I tried to run. People are going to recognise similarities.
OK we have 3 for Esoterrorists on the 12th May. Dawngreeter hope your salary came in as I have Saturnine Nights (promeathean) for you and Vampire: Prince of the City Board game. All customer orders are in and will be in CUMIC after 6 pm. Marko - I'll leave Scion there later in the week so I can have a butchers. Actually reading this - I should put it in the Market section.
For everyone that's after Spirit of the Century - no I haven't got it yet. BUT a new game came in called Hollow Earth RPG. It's pulpy (in a Jules Verne kinda way) and has got rave reviews. Well worth a look. A|State is in and I'm tracking down Cold City. My stock is still spread round half the Balkans so some lines maybe be missing.

So, I raided Fantasy Games today and it was a hoot :D
A|State looks very, very neat. High production values for a game that by all rights should be considered an indie game. Also, I'm here to tell you that Scion is the most beautiful friggin' book I've ever seen. I'm not exagerating.
But what really blows me away is that, by way of what I can only describe as divine intervention, SLA Industries RPG somehow found its way to Belgrade. Up until now, I thought that game was some sort of Internet myth or something. Seems it's real. And if you're a fan of weird cyberpunk and didn't hear about it before, go Google it. As in right away. I think I'll want to run a playtest game right after Scion is done.

Ah, SLA Industries, another fine, Scottish produced RPG. It's kind of cool to see this thread here where people are talking about playing a couple of games produced in my home country (and one of them by me, as well).Dawngreeter wrote:So, I raided Fantasy Games today and it was a hoot :D

SLA is a very nice game and well worth playing. The new stuff for it that Cubicle 7 are bringing out looks very nice as well: Cannibal Sector 1, Hunter Sheets, etc. I played the game many years ago when I was at university in Glasgow, the ideal environment for a SLA game!
Cheers

You are such a drug dealer. And you know I have no willpower to resist stuff like that. :PFGSerbia wrote:Marko - there's a new supplement called Cannibal Sector 1 for SLA. Do you want me to get it in? I appreciate that you'll be penniless for another year but I need something to tease you with and Changeling isn't out until August.

So yeah, of course I'm up for it.
That's neat, I didn't even know it was a Scottish game. Seems you guys are kicking all sorts of butt, RPG Industry-wise.Malcolm Craig wrote:Ah, SLA Industries, another fine, Scottish produced RPG. But the really weird thig is, I've only heard about SLA Industries from some random Internet Cyberpunk fans. I honestly figured it was something like a Bigfoot or a Loch Ness Monster (which also happens to be Scottish :D ) because no one I knew in person ever confirmed seeing the game with his own two eyes.
So now I have A|State and SLA Industries to drool over. The cyberpunk in me is squeeling with delight :D

For years now I've been saying that the only thing White Wolf is missing is a Cyberpunk game of some sort. But even so, it'll be a long while 'til non-White Wolf books on my shelves start outnumbering some 70+ WW books I've amassed over the years. 'Tis an addiction :?

Sorry for bashing in, its not really an Independent RPG, but I posted here 'cause I wanted to hear Rick as well if possible:
Did anyone try to play Ars Magica 5th edition? From what I could glimpse from various sources, its a very interesting fantasy system, with a great atmosphere remniscent of Darklands computer game, with some unusual concepts (like really running a number of characters rather than a single PC), and finally, a mechanic system that sounds pretty much like a dice rolling nightmare.

The only thing I've ever heard about Ars Magica is that it was the game Mark Rein-Hagen created before WoD. Many people said Ars Magica was effectively a prototype for Mage with very similar systems for workign magic and I simply figured it was the same thing, only more fantasy-oriented. Guess I wasn't so right about that.

I never played it, although it sounds pretty interesting, especially the magic system: the basic idea is that of magic words, spoken in pairs, with the first one being a verb (Create, Control, etc.) and the other a noun (Fire, Body, etc.) - and the whole system builds from that idea.
And yes, it does sound like Darklands, partially because you can determine the amount of 'the supernatural' in your Mythic Europe (the name of the setting).
Damn. I want to play it now.

Me too. The more I read, the more I like the concepts of the game. Although, you know, things such as "Combat was completely reworked, since the previous edition had a problem that the most powerful force on the battlefield was a naked man with a stick" doesn't really give me much faith in the game designers...

I'm waiting to see when FanPro will finally offer a definitive publishing date for English version of Degenesis. Now there's a book everyone should own. It was originally in German and it contains a lot of illustrations by Marko Djurdjevic. And if you don't know who Marko Djurdjevic is - shame on you.

HOW could you have read it so quickly?
Are you and Marko studying RPG's at University? I ran a six week World of Darkness campaign and in all that time I still never got round to reading the rules.
Cold City is currently very popular in the UK - well I know a lot of people on a UK forum were listing themselves as play testing it.

Come on, the book is very compact and very readable, it took me one evening; although I haven't read the sample adventure nor anything related to it. I guess reading and studying ( 8) ) SLA Industries is going to take a LOT more time... same goes for A/State.
In other news, I am still not sure about buying Hollow Earth on Saturday. I really want to, but I really want to save money for Spirit of the Century and Over the Edge, when they finally arrive. Ah, sweet sorrows

I'll definitely look some of those titles up.
By the way, I was just watching '12 Monkeys' for the 100th time and thought: 'wouldn't that be an excellent idea for a RPG?' Think about it: the near, post-apocalyptic future; players, actually convicts with a second chance, searching Earth's surface (or even the past) for clues concerning the mysterious wipe out of the human race - it simply sounds cool to me. Is there, by any chance, an RPG that sounds remotely like this?
