Relativno skoro sam poceo da igram ovu igru, iako je stara oko 7 godina.Razlog za to je sto do skoro nisam ni cuo za nju, jer je igra tezak underground.

Napravljena od strane Microsoft Research-a, relativno brzo je komercijalno propala i, za neverovati, postala open source.Sada je odrzava community, nema previse igraca, ali se uvek sakupi dovoljno da se igra ljudski.

Sam tip igre je svemirski fps/rts (gruba podela), znaci jedan igrac je komandir koji dobija sve resurse koje prikipljaju "radilice", dok ostali igraci (piloti) izvrsavaju zadatke koje im komandir zadaje (tipa: postavi prob-ove u tom i tom sistemu, brani harvestere, bombarduj tu i tu stanicu itd.).Learning curve je prilicno oshtar i igra nije bas noob friendly, tako da je najbolje da iscitate sav help u igri da bi znali sta,kad i kako da radite.Posto je kasno/rano i umoran sam da bih poduze sam opisivao igru evo vam jedan c/p:
Allegiance is an MMOG providing a mix of real-time strategy and player piloted space combat. Initially developed by Microsoft Research, the game was later released under a shared source license and is now maintained/developed by volunteers. Gameplay relies heavily on good teamwork and forward thinking. Players can fly a variety of craft, striving to destroy enemy team installations and protecting their own. Resource collection figures significantly in the game, since new technology can be expensive and money is usually scarce.

It was developed as an experiment by a team of programmers who had never worked in game design before. Allegiance was released in March of 2000 , after an extended beta test period. Allegiance is based on Alto Trek (1972), which was also written by Rick Rashid.

Despite its exhilarating fast-paced teamwork-oriented gameplay and sharp 3D graphics, the game never achieved commercial success (perhaps partly due to its reliance on Microsoft's less-than-reliable Microsoft Zone, the lack of advertising or both). It did manage to build a dedicated following, who have stayed with the game and continued its development despite multiple setbacks (Microsoft pulling support, player cheating, etc)

Due to the lack of commercial success, the official servers closed in 2002 . As a consequence of this, the original retail version of the game is largely unfunctional. However, the Allegiance community has been tireless and largely successful in its attempts to make the game free for all to play. The updated version of the game client is downloadable for free from the FreeAllegiance.org web site and many servers are currently hosted by members of the community.

Allegiance received GameSpot's Best Game No One Played award in 2000.

In February, 2004, Allegiance's original development team released the source code for Allegiance, signaling yet another chapter in Allegiance's unique history. Developers have since released two minor updates to the game engine, with the first major one coming in a few weeks, while enthusists develop/refine new mods for gameplay.
Allegiance is a free, online, multi-player space simulation game. You pilot spacecraft, flying in a team with other players, defending and attacking sectors in space. Allegiance challenges your tactical ingenuity, your ability to function in a team and your prowess at blowing stuff up. Experienced players take command and lead their teams to victory or defeat.

Furious Space Action Combat

* Dodge bullets, missiles and asteroids in a 3D environment. Charge your enemies head-on, or sneak up behind them and kill them when they least expect it. Stunning, colorful effects and explosions intensify the furious combat experience.

* Defend the honor of one of several unique factions, each of which have unique properties and spacecraft. Choose between different ship and weapon types. Create massive space stations, or captain capital ships. Choose strategically, there is no turning back.

Incredible Multiplayer Experience

* Break free from predictable wingmen and drone enemies. Allegiance is built from the ground-up to be an evolving, unpredictable challenge with and against other humans.

* Play a variety of roles like scout, fighter pilot, turret gunner, bomber, capital ship captain, base defender, and commander. Knowing where you are needed most is crucial. Individual, split-second decisions may determine whether you win or lose. Each game and each player's experience can be unique.

* Learn on the fly. New players can learn while playing by taking on subordinate, single-action roles.

Strategic Squadron Play

* Invest in success. Choose to play conquest games, where development and management of crucial resources are keys to your success. Progress through a rich technology tree full of unique weapons like sniper rifles, advanced bases like the deadly shipyard, and specialized spacecraft like the Assault Ship.

* Communicate with your squad-mates. Features like instant voice-chat make essential communication with your squadron quick and easy. Gather your wingmen and swarm an enemy sector in a sudden, deadly attack.

* Master the strategy. Any player can access the top-down strategic overview, giving them a full view of what's going on in the game. This allows would-be commanders to get a bird's eye perspective of the game and to issue strategic and tactical objectives to teammates and mining/building drones.
